Project Overview:
Provision of essential new consolidated lab facilities for the Professor Pete Skabara research group in rooms C5.12, C5.13, C5.14 & C5.15 of the Joseph Black Building.
This project was a major refurbishment of the top floor of the Joseph Black Building Wing ‘C’ with the facility carefully designed to ensure the laboratory can be used for a variety of end-users and not restrained to one specific professor or group. The projects future-proofing design strategy was extended to the specification and scope of the fabric and services.
The extensive refurbishment included the total replacement of the curtain walling and roof elements. The project greatly improved the thermal efficiency of the building with more modern, efficient services also enhancing the sustainability aspects of the design and reducing the maintenance burden going forward.
